HOT WATER SPRINGS EL LIMÓN

At a short distance from the community El Limon, and at the edge of the river, you will find an impressive area where, en various points, hot water springs originate from the surrounding mountains. In some cases these springs have formed small caves which are  painted in different spectacular colours by the deposits of the different minerals which compose the water. At one of these caves, the previous Nicaraguan dictator Somoza had established his private hot water baths. Unfortunately, during the hurricane Mitch, these have been destroyed and buried. Plans are being made to try to re-establish this original historic site.

In the nearby river it is possible to take a refreshing dip in the cool water.
