JESUS MOUNTAIN

Jesus Mountain is the highest mountain in Jalapa with an altitude of 1,885 m. and property of the Cerro de jesús Mountain Coffee Company. The farm has a size of approximately 450 has. of which the higher part (about 225 has.) is protected as a natural cloud forest. In this forest live, among many other animals, 3 types of monkeys, sloth, deer and even they have seen the famous quetzal. Also the forest is rich in plants including orchids.

The farm produces the fourth best coffee of the world according to an international competition organized by the American Association Of Special Coffees in 1997. (read Spanish article)

During your visit you can observe, and learn about, the production and processing of coffee while the tracks lead you to the most beautiful parts of the farm. A windowed balcony offers a nice play to rest and enjoy the view of the mountains in this remote corner of Nicaragua right on the border with Honduras.
